MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Six (6) WASSE/SSSCE credit passes ( A1-C6/A-D) in any three subjects including English language, Mathematics and Integrated Science or Social Studies plus three credit passes ( A1-C6/A-D) in elective subjects. Aggregate Score Should Not Exceed 24 in the case of SSSCE and 36 for WASSCE.

GCE O Level including English language and Mathematics.

Post-Secondary Teachers Certificate ‘A’ from Ghana Education Service plus (5) five O Level credit passes including English and maths.

ABCE & GBCE: ABCE candidates with three or more passes, who also possesses at least 5 five credit passes in SSSCE/WASSCE/GBCE including passes in English and maths may be admitted to level 200. Those with 2 passes or less may be admitted to level 100. GBCE candidates with passes in 5 subjects including business maths may qualify for level 100.

Foreign students with qualifications to WASSCE or GCE O/A Levels may apply.

Diploma in Business Studies applicants with a minimum of five (5) passes of the DBS in accounting and business management awarded by the Technical Examination Unit of Ghana Education Service is required.

Higher National Diploma (HND) graduates with at least a second class lower division in a relevant area such as accounting, HR, Management, Communication or Marketing may be admitted into relevant programmes.

Holders of a Diploma awarded by a recognized university/college qualify to be admitted at level 300.

Entry Courses for Matured Students

This short term course serves as a revision for matured candidates. Courses are offered in English, maths, logic and critical thinking, after which candidates are examined. Successful candidates may be admitted to all programmes except computer science. The courses have duration of 6 six weeks with minimum entry requirements of 27 years and above and must pass entrance exams.

Application for all programmes may be obtained at a non-refundable application processing fee of GHC 250.00 for Ghanaian or US$150.00 for international students.

Transfer Students

Candidates who have spent minimum of two semesters as regular students pursuing the same degree in a recognized university or institution with satisfactory progress (CGPA- related) may be considered for admission as transfer student.

Admission Requirements - Level 200

Category A

General Certificate of Education (G.C.E) Advanced Level:

Passes in any three (3) subjects at the G.C.E Advanced Level plus a pass in General Paper. In addition, the applicant must have had credit passes (Grade 6) or better in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics and any Science Subject at the G.C.E Ordinary Level.

Category B

Advanced Business Certificate Examinations (ABCE):

Passes in any five (5) subjects at the ABCE level. In addition, the applicant must have had credit passes in five (5) subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science or Social Studies in the General Business Certificate Examinations (GBCE).

Category C

Post-Secondary Teacher’s Certificate ‘A’/Diploma in Education Certificate.

Category D

Recognized Professional Qualifications:

At least complete Level One (1) of any of the following professional qualifications:

Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators. UK (ICSA),

Chartered Institute of Marketing. UK (CIM)

Chartered Institute of Management Accountant. UK (CIMA)

Chartered Association of Certified Accountants. UK (ACCA),

Applicants in possession of University/Tertiary Diploma with a Final Grade Point Average (FGPA) of at most 2.99 from any University/Institution in programmes relevant to the courses being offered by the University.

A first degree with a minimum of Second Class Lower from a recognized University in a related field or study, or

A first degree with a third class or pass with a minimum of three years post qualification experience or

A postgraduate diploma in a related field from a recognized University may also be admitted.

Admission Requirements – International Applicants

International Applicants may be admitted on the basis of qualifications from their home countries for which equivalence shall be determined by the National Accreditation Board (NAB) of Ghana and submitted to the University. Evidence of proficiency in English Language will be required in the case of applicants from non-English speaking countries. Baccalaureate holders from Francophone countries are eligible to apply.

Note: Applicants should bear in mind that there may be various additional departmental requirements for each programme.

NB: Other charges for Ghanaian and International Students:

• All distance learning programmes GHC300 per semester
• All professional courses GHC385 per semester
• Incoming students must pay all fees for a semester before the first day of class.
• Returning students must pay ½ of total fees for the semester before the first day of class. The remaining fees must be paid within 4 weeks of the start of the semester.

Depending on your course, you may be involved in some or all of these types of teaching at Crown:

Lecture

A presentation or talk on a particular topic, delivered by one or more members of staff. Lectures can be interactive, and you should expect them to form a basis for further reading, questioning and thought.

Seminar

A classroom session focused on a particular topic or project. A typical seminar involves guided, tutor-led discussion in a smaller group than a lecture. Seminars can also be student-led.

Demonstration

A session in which a practical technique or skill is demonstrated. Examples include laboratory skills, clinical skills, and performance art or fieldwork techniques.

Supervision

A meeting with a supervisor to plan, discuss and monitor progress on a piece of work such as a dissertation or extended project.

Practical class or workshop

A session involving the acquisition, through practical application, of a particular skill or technique. Examples include a laboratory class, artefact handling, language conversation or sports match or quiz.

Work-based and placement learning or RPL

Learning that takes place in the workplace, such as a managed placement in an organisation or business or recognition of prior learning.

Tutorial

A one-to-one or small group meeting that involves supervision, feedback or detailed discussion on a topic, project or piece of assessed work. Tutorials place stronger emphasis than seminars on the role of the tutor in giving direction or feedback.

Webinar

A virtual lecture or online seminar.

Fieldwork

Practical work conducted at an external site. Examples include survey work, data collection, excavations and explorations.

Supervised time in studio or workshop

Time in which students work independently but under supervision, in a specialist facility such as a studio, rehearsal space or workshop. It could be timetabled or take place on an ad hoc basis.

Assessment

We assess your work and progress in a number of ways. These will vary depending on your choice of modules, but are likely to include examinations and coursework based assessment. You must pass your first year assessment in order to progress to the second year, but only assessments in the second and subsequent years contribute to your final degree classification.

External visit

A visit to a location away from the usual learning spaces, to experience a particular environment, event or exhibition relevant to the course of study.

Programmes, modules and credits

Your programme of study makes up your degree; sometimes it is referred to as a course. Each programme consists of modules, and each module is worth a number of credits. You will study modules worth 120 credits each year. Depending on your programme, you may take up to 30 credits each year in another subject, for instance a language or business module, to develop career-related skills or just broaden your intellectual horizons.

students who enroll with High School or West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), International Baccalaureate, Ordinary & Advanced (O & A) levels into a Bachelor Degree may choose to (study 3 years at Crown University and transfer to a preferred Crown International University to complete the remaining 1 year for BSc. BBA, BA, B.Tech degrees i.e 3+1 system) vis-à-vis.

Bachelors Pathway 2

students enroll with High School, WASSCE, Baccalaureate, O and A levels will (study for 4 years at CROWN and transfer to overseas Crown International universities to complete their theses and graduate i.e 4+0 system) vis-à-vis.

Bachelors Pathway 3

students enroll with High School, WASSCE, Baccalaureate, O and A level will (transfer to overseas Crown International universities for all the 4 years of study i.e 0+4 system) vis-à-vis.

Masters pathway 1

students enroll with bachelor degrees will (study 2 years at CROWN and transfer to overseas Crown International universities i.e 2+0 or 1 year at Crown and transfer to overseas universities 1+1 or all the 2 years at overseas universities 0+2. System vis-à-vis.

Doctoral/PhD Pathway 1

students enroll with masters degrees will (study 3 years at CROWN and transfer to overseas Crown International universities 3+0 or 2 years at CROWN and transfer to overseas universities for the remaining 1 year 2+1 system vis-à-vis.
